Lazer Tag was a brand of toy laser guns released in 1986 by World of Wonders (who also made the Teddy Ruxpin talking teddy bear). Players would wear a "StarSensor" (optionally attached to a separately-sold StarVest) and try to shoot the other players- shots would register audibly and visibly on the sensor.

From Siamese Dream-era onward, James has occasionally held a toy laser gun (does not appear to be the Lazer Tag "StarLyte" gun) up to his guitar to make sound effects, notably on the Vieuphoria performance of Silverfuck/Jackboot. Sometimes he also wore the StarHelmet, which was an additional accessory to the game.
